Sean joined the firm in August 2012 after relocating from British Columbia, where he completed his undergraduate degree (2007) and obtained his CA designation (2011).  Returning to Medicine Hat to settle down was an easy decision for him as it is his hometown.  In January 2015, Sean and Keith Edwards entered into a partnership, Edwards & Miller Chartered Accountants LLP, and at the end of 2017 Keith retired with Sean taking over the practice and continuing as Sean D. Miller Professional Corporation.  Sean is responsible for preparing and reviewing Compilation and Review engagements, personal and corporate tax returns, accounting and tax advisory services and any other accounting or tax-related services required by our clients.  In his spare time, Sean enjoys playing and watching sports, including hockey, football, tennis, and golf, traveling, and spending time with friends.  He currently volunteers on the board of the Medicine Hat Tennis Club, of which he is an active member.  He also relishes the role of being a father as he and his wife raise their three boys.

Sean received his certificate in December 2020 for completing the rigorous three year In-Depth Tax Program through CPA Canada and has recently taken the following professional development courses:

Colleen Sundby

Colleen moved to Medicine Hat in 2020 to be closer to family.  She completed her Administrative Business Microcomputers certification, with honors, before the turn of the century.  Colleen is responsible for ensuring the office runs smoothly and all our clients’ accounting and tax needs are handled professionally and efficiently.  Colleen also owns and operates a home-based pottery studio specializing in stained glass style mosaics, bas relief and sgraffito carved tile.  She also sculpts, paints, and plays around with an array of other arts and crafts.

Miriam Mitchell

Miriam moved to Medicine Hat from Saskatchewan in 1999.  She was married in 2007 and has two children: her son, Aven, born in 2009 and her daughter, Aliyah, born in 2011.  Miriam received her diploma in Business Administration with a major in Accounting in 2003 and has years of experience in public accounting and is currently working toward her Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Major).  Miriam works with our corporate clients in preparing their financial statements and corporate tax returns.  Due to her extensive knowledge of Sage 50 (formerly Simply Accounting) and QuickBooks, Miriam is available for either in-house or on-site bookkeeping support.  She enjoys working with clients to ensure they fully understand their software and bookkeeping.

Courtney moved to Medicine Hat from Brooks in 2017 to pursue a post secondary diploma in Business at the Medicine Hat College where she graduated with honors in 2019.  During her full time studies at MHC, she also completed three additional certifications for Legal Office Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, and Administrative Office Professional. In her spare time you can find Courtney traveling throughout North America, practicing landscape photography, exploring nature, caring for her collection of tropical houseplants, and spending time with her friends, family, and pets.  Courtney works with clients to help them with their bookkeeping and personal and corporate tax needs.
